<image:title>About - Avery Klotsche LCSW, LICSW, LMT, CST</image:title>
<image:caption>(he/him; they/them) is a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist holding clinical social work licensure in four Northeastern states and providing remote psycho- and sex therapy. Avery is also licensed to practice massage therapy in Massachusetts. Education: -New York University, Master of Social Work (MSW) -University of Michigan, Post-Master’s Dual Certificate in Sex Therapy and Sex Education -Arizona State University, English with concentration in Creative Writing (BA), and LGBTQ Studies (Certificate) -The Massage School of Hadley, MA, 650 hour Massage Therapist Certification Professional Memberships: -National Association of Social Workers -American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists -World Professional Association of Transgender Health -Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals Bio: Avery grew up in Long Island, New York in a single-parent, working class household. As a child, they were inquisitive, sensitive, and imaginative. In grade school, they dreamt of growing up to be a nurse and a veterinarian. They developed passions for writing, music, and drama, but were equally compelled by creative people and human rights. By high school, it became apparent that they were more oriented towards the subjective than to hard sciences. Maturing into adulthood, they found meaning in jobs that focused on healing, personal development, and education. As a young adult, Avery worked as a peer educator at a community LGBTQ center, and as a veterinary technician and adoption counselor at a non-profit animal rescue before embarking on a sixteen year career in higher education administration. An adaptive and lifelong learner with a passion for problem-solving, they pursued social work in recognition of the many factors that hinder and empower us, as well as each person’s unique strengths, experiences, and motivations. As an early career social worker, they enrolled in a post-Master’s program focusing on Sex Therapy and Sex Education. Both a nod to their earlier work as a peer educator and their lived experience as a member of a sexually marginalized community, Avery felt that this was a natural next step in their professional journey. After meeting the educational and clinical training requirements, they were accepted by AASECT for certification as a sex therapist. Avery’s interest in massage therapy followed an experience in their own healing where talk therapy was ineffective, but cranio-sacral massage therapy helped immensely. While they are only able to offer bodywork in the state of Massachusetts, their training as a massage therapist often becomes relevant in helping clients understand the ways in which our bodies and minds work in tandem, housing both our adverse experiences and our adaptive responses. Avery is licensed to practice as a clinical social worker and sex therapist in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. In addition to their degrees and certifications, they have pursued training in trauma-informed psychotherapy, behavioral therapies, grief therapy, and somatic experiencing. Their approach to treatment is trauma-informed, relational, curious, and conversational. Avery currently resides in Western Massachusetts. For self-care, he enjoys gardening, reading, writing, culinary experimentation, and amateur home renovation. As part of their commitment to social justice and equality, Avery regularly volunteers their free time to charitable causes and donates a percentage of annual earnings to further social justice and environmental initiatives.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Services Offered:</image:title>
<image:caption>Weekly, Ongoing Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Sex Therapy I offer psychodynamic psychotherapy and sex therapy via telehealth in New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. These sessions are meant to address and support patients who are experiencing behavioral and/or psychological difficulties, or who have concerns about their relationships, sexual health and functioning. I am experienced in working with folks from various backgrounds and walks of life, with a variety of concerns. I am trauma informed and relational in my approach and I tend to be interactive and conversational during sessions. Sessions are 50 minutes long. Therapy is most effective when attended weekly, so I typically require weekly attendance. If weekly attendance simply isn’t possible for you but you would like to work together, please let me know. I offer all prospective patients a free 20 minute video consultation so that we can determine whether I am the right therapist for you. In the event I am not the right fit, I will provide you with some recommendations so that you can receive the right support. Please note the following: I do not work with youth under the age of 18. I’m happy to help identify a similarly oriented provider in your state. I am not able to provide clinical assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder or ADHD, or service/emotional support animal letters. I only provide letters for gender confirmation surgery to current patients. Thank you for your understanding. In accordance with the No Surprises Act (effective January 1, 2022), all new clients are eligible to receive a Good Faith Estimate. These estimates list the costs of services that are reasonably expected for your health care needs. The information provided in the Good Faith Estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate is created. For more information, please visit: www.cms.gov/nosurprises Gender-Affirming Therapy and Surgical Support Letters I offer therapeutic services for folks of all genders and sexual orientations pursuing medical intervention, and those seeking support with socialization, complications, and transition-related grief. I followed the WPATH Standards of Care, Version 8 for Gender Affirming treatment. While I don’t believe in clinical gatekeeping or that anyone can better determine the need for surgical intervention than the patient themselves, I do believe that medicalization, however beneficial, is a complex and often emotionally challenging process in a person’s transition. For this reason, I do not provide letters for folks who are not currently involved in ongoing psychotherapy. Relationship Therapy with Two or More Partners Aside from concerns specifically related to sexual health, sexual orientation, and gender identity, I do not currently offer ongoing relationship therapy. If you are seeking relationship support, I am happy to provide the name of a qualified colleague. Solution-Focused Coaching For individuals who are located outside of the states in which I am licensed, I am able to provide short-term, solution-focused coaching and consultation on a specific issue. These sessions are charged directly to the client and are not reimbursable through any insurance plan. Some examples of targeted issues that might be addressed with coaching are as follows: Coming out as LGBTQ to loved ones Discussing desire and best approaches for a specific change in your romantic relationship, such as opening or closing a relationship, or discussing a sexual health issue Concerns about BDSM/alternative sexuality Addressing a specific behavioral concern Changing careers or structuring financial goals Relocation support and adjustment to new home/routine Licensed Massage Therapy (Massachusetts only) I am able to provide massage therapy in the state of Massachusetts. Techniques include Swedish and Deep Tissue massage. For folks experiencing surgical scar pain, I am able to offer myofascial release to the affected area in order to improve pain and range of motion. Please note that due to licensing restrictions and prevention of dual-relationships, I do not offer massage therapy to clients who are engaged in psychotherapy treatment or vice versa. For clients who would like to receive both services, please contact me to discuss your situation and I will make an appropriate referral for either service. Thank you for understanding.</image:caption>

<image:title>Services - Rates, Insurance & out of network COVERAGE:</image:title>
<image:caption>Current Fees: Please contact me for my current rates. My fees are based on my professional training, experience, maintenance of multiple state licenses, costs for ongoing supervision, continuing education, professional liability insurance, and the current market rate for private specialized therapeutic services in the Northeast. At this time, I have a waitlist for prospective patients requiring reduced rates, however I am also happy to provide the name of a similarly oriented colleague if I am not able to accommodate your specific circumstances. Insurance: I am an Out of Network Provider for insurance purposes. While I’m unable to accept insurance from other companies directly, I offer billing for the purpose of insurance reimbursement. Depending on your coverage, Out of Network benefits will often reimburse a significant portion of our fee. It is recommended that you contact your insurance carrier to find out if you are eligible for Out of Network coverage. When contacting insurance, be sure to ask the following questions: Does my insurance plan offer Out of Network coverage for mental and behavioral health? What is my Out of Network deductible? Has it been met? When does it renew? What amount per session will insurance reimburse? How do I submit billing so I can be reimbursed for psychotherapy sessions?</image:caption>
